Manouchehr Niazi

Manouchehr Niazi (b. c. 1936–37, Tabriz, Iran) began studying painting at age fourteen and trained for six years at the Kamal-ol-Molk School before studying modern art with Jalil Ziapour. He holds a master’s degree in art history and criticism from Queens College, New York, and lived and worked in the United States for 23 years. Over his career he has held 84 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 240 group exhibitions across Iran, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and initiated Iran’s first outdoor art exposition at Laleh Park in 1977. Working primarily in oil, he is known for paintings of forests, dense tree trunks, and rural settlements.
